The Australian Broadcasting Corporation has a weekly “Q&A” television current affairs program. The studio audience ask the questions and a different panel each week provide responses.
Amongst this weeks five panelists, beside the obligatory politicians, one Phillip Blonde and another Peter Singer.
Blonde originates from the British Right and his conservative opinion regarding euthanasia may not be surprising. Surprisingly, however, his arguments left the erudite Australian applied ethics professor and pro-euthanasia lobbyist in a spin.
Not long later, and with regard to the controversial asylum seeker debate, Singer’s ethics appeared to come to the fore, and Blonde was suddenly looking the hard liner.
