Just read this booklet (PDF), Satan’s Counterfeit Christianity by Roderick C. Meredith, and it’s probably a good place to start for those who are having doubts about their “type” of Christianity, or Christianity in general.
Roderick quotes Hyslop (The Two Babylons) a bit, including this:
It has been known all along that Popery was baptized Paganism
and then goes on further to declare it (i.e. Popery) the paganism of “ancient literal Babylon”. It is worth reading the whole quote on page 16-17 of Roderick’s booklet.
Roderick quotes Hyslop with:
And seems to (as I did) delight in this:
This tendency on the part of Christians to meet Paganism half-way was very early developed.
To that, Roderick pointedly adds from Jeremiah 10:2–4.
Not only is Catholicism questioned. Roderick rightly directs some critique to the Reformation Protestants such as Calvin and to Luther in particular, concluding that:
The Protestant churches stand clearly identified by God Almighty as the “harlot daughters” of apostate Rome!
The revival of a Babylon-inspired, medieval-like Church-State system of ecumenicalism will attract many by her great splendour and the lure of (temporary) “wealth and power”; but save none.
This booklet is a good start for those enmeshed in “traditional Christianity” — in traditions of men.
Of course the best start (middle and end) is to read and study the Bible for yourself. Start now. Time is (always) short.
We close with the Aaronic Blessing (Numbers 6:22-26, KJV):
24 The Lord bless thee, and keep thee:
25 The Lord make his face shine upon thee, and be gracious unto thee:
26 The Lord lift up his countenance upon thee, and give thee peace.
Jesus is Lord
