There She Goes (Again)

Some things, though not particularly important, remain curiously inexplicable. Like how Carolyn remains my favourite Franklin? By some strange happen-stance, I have retained a soft spot for her. Is it because she sings with child-like candour of her frailty, swinging as she does from sharp to flat?  Is it because she was destined to be overshadowed … and underrated? Is it because her life was cut too short? Or does it, perchance, feed into my own paternalistic penchant to temper the ‘overzealous child’? Maybe it’s all those things and that she was fabulous. She’s someone I never met but perhaps always knew. If I had met her, I would — like an annoying father perhaps — have told her to stop yelling into the mic. And, I would have told her that God loves her and that so do I. But there you go.

The Less Said

Having just listened to this I would feel well the cheat not to share such a marvelous voice. But (yes, there is always a but) apparently “Cooke had a flaw of Biblical proportion: his unbridled libido.” This is not quoted to (posthumously) judge the man, for I am the first among sinners (inclusive of the sin of lust) and none are righteous, no not one. But rather it is said in the interest of exposing everything to the light, lest we be tickling the ears. Luke 8:17 Amen.

After We Die

Yes it’s the age-old question but I’d really like to know.

Does our soul leave the body and the spirit circles and travels, locally, before finally moving on to heaven in three days?

Is that how it works?

Surely there must be an afterlife!

But what is the process in between death and the afterlife or next life?

Anyone??
